Ticketlink · How it works

Simple.
Transparent.
Built for Africa.

Everything you need to know about buying tickets or selling your own events on Ticketlink.

For attendees

Buying tickets.

01

Find an event

Browse events on the homepage, use the search page to filter by city, category or date, or open a direct event link shared by the organiser on social media.

02

Select your tickets

Choose your ticket tier — Regular, VIP or VVIP — and the quantity you need. Prices and availability are shown for each tier. Sold-out tiers are clearly marked and cannot be selected.

03

Enter your details and pay

Enter your name, email and phone number. Pay with M-Pesa (you will receive an STK push to your phone) or with a credit or debit card. No account required — you can check out as a guest.

04

Receive your ticket by email

Immediately after payment, your ticket with a unique QR code is emailed to the address you provided. Keep this email — you will need the QR code to get in.

05

Show your QR code at the door

At the event, show your QR code on your phone screen. The gate team will scan it. Valid tickets are admitted instantly. Each QR code can only be scanned once — duplicates are automatically rejected.

For organisers

Selling tickets.

01

Apply for an organiser account

Go to organiser.html and create an account. Fill in your organisation details, event type and city. Verify your email with a one-time code. Your application is submitted to the Ticketlink team for review.

02

Get approved

The Ticketlink team reviews your application — usually within 24 hours. You will receive an email when your account is approved. Until approval, you can log in to your dashboard but cannot publish events. This step ensures platform quality and protects buyers.

03

Create your event

From your dashboard, click New Event. Fill in the event title, date, time, venue and description. Upload your event poster. Add ticket tiers (Regular, VIP, VVIP) with individual prices and quantities. The whole process takes under 5 minutes.

04

Publish and share

When you are ready, hit Publish. Your event is immediately live on Ticketlink. Copy your event link and share it on WhatsApp, Instagram and Twitter. Buyers can purchase with M-Pesa or card in under 60 seconds.

05

Manage and track

Your dashboard shows live ticket sales, revenue, orders and attendees. You can edit event details, mark tiers as sold out, and view your Finances tab for a full breakdown of earnings, platform fees and net payout.

06

Scan at the door

Add gate staff from your dashboard — enter their email and role. They receive a link to the Gate Scan portal. On the day, they log in, select your event, and scan QR codes with any phone camera. Scans are real-time and synced — a ticket cannot be admitted twice.

07

Get paid

After your event, Ticketlink processes your payout. We deduct 4% as the platform fee and transfer the remainder to your registered M-Pesa or bank account via Paystack. You can track this in the Finances tab.

Common questions

FAQ.

Do I need an account to buy tickets?>
No. You can buy tickets as a guest without creating an account. Your ticket and QR code will be emailed to you. Creating an account lets you see all your past and upcoming tickets in one place from the My Tickets page.
How do I get my ticket after paying?>
Your ticket is emailed to the address you entered at checkout immediately after payment is confirmed. Check your spam folder if you do not see it. You can also find your ticket on the My Tickets page if you have an account, or by entering your booking reference.
Can I get a refund?>
Refund policies are set by each organiser and shown on the event page. Ticketlink does not issue refunds directly. Contact the organiser for refund requests. If an event is cancelled, the organiser is responsible for processing refunds.
How long does organiser approval take?>
The Ticketlink team reviews new organiser applications within 24 hours. You will receive an email once your account is approved. Until then you can log in but cannot publish events.
When do I get paid as an organiser?>
Payouts are processed after your event has taken place, typically within 5-7 business days via Paystack. Revenue is transferred to the M-Pesa number or bank account on your organiser profile.
What is a custom subdomain?>
A custom subdomain is a branded URL like solfest.ticketlink.co.ke that shows only your events — no other organisers or marketplace. Buyers who visit your subdomain see only your brand, profile and events. It costs KSh 1,500 per year or KSh 500 for a single event period.
How does gate scanning work?>
From your dashboard, go to Gate Staff and add your team by email. They receive a link to the Gate Scan portal at gatescan.ticketlink.co.ke. On event day, they log in, select your event and scan tickets with any phone camera. Every scan updates in real time — a ticket that has been admitted cannot be scanned again.
